How We Work

Consultation

We usually start off with a one-hour meeting to discuss what your needs are in terms of your website's design, organisation and functionality. We also answer any questions you might have.

Estimate

Next we provide you with a detailed written estimate that is valid for 30 days. This is personalized for your site.

Materials

We collect the materials necessary for the project. This includes your text, images and logo. It also includes a deposit and signed contract.

We do not normally copyedit the text. So make sure that the text you give us have been corrected, finalized and approved. If you require copyediting services, our regular hourly rate applies, in addition to any project-based fees.

Planning

We finalize the organisation of the site, taking into account basic usability factors. We choose a colour palette and a theme. We organize a basic page layout.

Communication is important. We have an online project management tool that lets you follow along as we complete your project, from this stage on.

Visual Interface

We create two different, unique designs for your site and submit both mock-ups to you so that you can choose the one you prefer.

We provide these two concepts and two revisions. Each additional concept or revision will be at additional cost.

Installation and Integration

If you are using a content management system, a shopping cart, or other server-side software, we install it and configure it at this point.

We use standards-based (X)HTML and CSS to turn the mock-up you approve into a fully functioning site design, that works with any server-side software we've installed.

We use Javascript and Ajax to make your site interactive, functional and appealing.

Content and Testing

Next we load the text and images you've provided. We also test the site to ensure it works as planned.

Launch and SEO

Once everything looks and works as it should, we go live. We also submit your site and sitemap to various search engines.

Getting Started

We are usually able to provide a website 30 days after the initial deposit is made, but it can be done much faster if you are well prepared. Here is what we need from you.

Content

All the text from the site, page by page, in a corrected, final copy. This needs to be in a digital format (like a .doc or .rtf file) ready to copy and paste.

Branding

We’ll need a copy of your logo (as a .jpg or .gif file or similar) and your company name and slogan, if you have one. If your branding requires the use of specific colours, let us know.

Images

If you already have photos that you want to appear on your site, we’ll need them in a digital format (as a .jpg or .gif file) We can also help you choose images from stock image providers.

Inspiration

We have lots of ideas for great websites, but to help steer us in the right direction, we could use a list of about five websites that you like. They should have the same tone that you’d like to see in your site, but they don’t need to be in your area.

For eCommerce clients

You will need to decide which currencies you plan to accept, which taxes you will be collecting (if any), and how you will organize shipping costs (by item, by value, etc.).

Languages

We are able to provide multilingual sites. Please let us know which languages you plan to include.
